FAQ’s – Transfer Cases

Transfer Case Repair FAQ’s – Jackson, MS

  1. How much does transfer case repair or replacement cost?

The cost can vary widely based on the vehicle make and model, as well as the extent of the damage to your transfer case. After our free inspectionhere in Jackson, MS, we will provide you with up-front pricing. If there is no service performed, there is no fee!

  1. Can I drive my vehicle with a damaged transfer case

Even though it is possible to drive a damaged transfer case in two-wheel drive mode, we definitely do not recommend this! Driving a vehicle with a faulty transfer case puts extra stress on your drivetrain, potentially causing further damage later on, and more expenses. It’s a good idea to have the issue checked out as soon as possible to help avoid bigger and more extensive repairs later on.

  1. How can I prevent transfer case issues?

Regular maintenance is key to prolonging the life of your transfer case:

  • Change the transfer case fluid every 30,000 to 60,000 miles or follow your vehicle manufacturer’s recommendation.
  • Seals and gaskets – look for wear and replace them as needed.
  • Fluid leads – address promptly to prevent bigger issues.
  • Aggressive driving – try to avoid this, especially while in 4WD mode.

A little maintenance for your transfer case makes a big difference in helping your transfer case last!
